What is IPM?

It is an innovative way to minimize the use of pesticides while effectively managing a pest. Strategies include regular servicing by your pest control company, inspection and proper maintenance of your home, climate control, restriction of food and plants, and regular cleaning.

Make Your Home Less Attractive to Pests

1. Keep shrubbery trimmed away from your home.
2. Keep gutters and downspouts clean.
3. Ensure downspouts drain away from your home.
4. Inspect your home for cracks, holes, etc. and seal with caulking.
5. Do not stack firewood against your home.
6. Pine straw or mulch is an ideal enviroment for pests.
7. Sanitation is essential for being pest free.
8. Bright lights at night are a strong attractant to flying insects.
9. Keep all trashcans clean, and all exterior trashcans at least 5 feet away from your home.
10. Have a pest professional inspect and treat your home quarterly, even if you only have an "occasional bug." One bug could mean more are going to come in. Your pest professional knowes what pests are active and what measures are necessary to prevent them from returning.
